DANNENMANN HEADS PRO CONTINGENT

Steven Dannenmann was the head of a huge poker pro list at the Borgata Winter Poker Open. Even with some of the poker world’s elite away from the United States, the field still held massive challenges for its participants. 2002 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event champion Robert Varkonyi and 2005 WSOP Main Event runner-up Steve Dannenmann headed a contingent of pros that also included bracelet winners Jason Young, Mike Sica, and Chris Reslock. Also joining the fray at the Borgata were Alex Bolotin, Matt Glantz, Eugene Todd, Olga Varkonyi, and David Zeitlin.

DANNENMANN ACCEPTS DEFEAT

Steve Dannenmann was defeated by Joe Hachem in an incredible match and he accepted defeat to a better opponent. Only six hands into heads-up play, with blinds $150,000/$300,000, antes $50,000, Steve Dannenmann raised to $700,000 holding Ad-3c. With a huge chip stack, Joe Hachem with 7c-3s took a chance and called. It was a great decision when the dealer flipped over 6h-5d-4d. After Hachem checked his flopped straight, Dannenmann bet $700,000.

DANNENMANN PROGRESSES

Steve Dannenmann progressed into the next round of the Borgata Open. Pro Steve Dannenmann also made it to Day 2. He's 91st in chips with $109,000.

DANNENMANN FAILS TO PRODUCE MAGIC

Steve Dannenmann could not produce any magic at the WSOP as he was eliminated on Day 1.

Eliminations on Day 1d included Phil Gordon, Brian Townsend, John Tabatabai, Justin Smith, Michael Craig, Jose Barbero, Steve Dannenmann, Joe Hachem, John Juanda, Allen Kessler, Cliff Josephy, Sorel Mizzi and Wendeen Eolis - the first woman to cash in a WSOP event back in 1986.

DANNENMANN LAUNCHES INSURANCE POLICY

Former 2005 World Series of Poker runner-up Steve Dannenmann has filed a patent for “Wager insurance for a no-limit texas hold’em poker game.”

He and two other men filed a patent on April 17th, 2008 that allows for a player to take out an insurance policy while in the middle of playing a hand of No-Limit Texas Holdem to protect against the financial loss of losing that hand.

Essentially, when two players are all in, the player with the mathematical edge to win the hand can take out an insurance policy from the house to cover him/her in the event of a bad beat.

WHEN DANNENMANN BROKE ON TO THE SCENE

In days gone by the game of poker was reserved for dimly lit barrooms, and back rooms filled with smoke. Times have changed. Poker has become nationally recognized as a game, not a bar-brawling excuse for fighting. Millions follow the world series of poker.

Initially the world series of poker was an event held in Las Vegas mainly to draw publicity. Now the world series of poker is nationally televised, and has huge crowds as the games progress. There's even been best-selling books written about the world series of poker.
